Tom Fitzhugh

I joined ALF in 2024, working afternoon food distribution and file review positions, and was elected Treasurer in 2026.
I worked through my High school and college years in general building maintenance and refrigeration/HVAC. I received a BS Physics degree from University of Miami (FL) in 1980, and spent my professional career in the aerospace industry focused on airborne and spaceborne complex electronics systems. I started at Hughes Aircraft as a manufacturing engineer, and retired in 2014 from Boeing as an executive director.
Since retirement, I continued to independently consult to the aerospace industry while beginning my volunteer activities. Those activities included teaching recovering homeless people job and financial management skills at the Long Beach Rescue Mission, SCORE mentoring, teaching high school seniors financial management skills with United Way, and ALF.
My wife of 39 years, Nancy, and I moved to Atascadero in 2019. We have two daughters also living on the central coast. Our first grandchild was born early 2025. I enjoy travelling, helping Nancy with her dog sports competitions, fly fishing, motorcycling, hiking and camping and playing classical guitar.
