Elizabeth (Beth) Hagenauer

ALF Vice President

Beth Hagenauer became an ALF volunteer in 2019. She joined the Board of Directors in 2023 and was elected Board Vice President in 2024. She is the afternoon lead and trainer for food distribution and oversee all volunteer efforts.
Beth earned a BA in English from the University of Portland, Oregon, and an MS in Counseling and Human Development from Troy State University, Alabama. In her early career, she taught in elementary and junior high schools.
After raising a family, Beth returned to the workforce with a position in the public affairs office at NASA’s Dryden (now Armstrong) Flight Research Center on Edwards Air Force Base, California. While employed at Dryden, she progressed from leading general public facility tours to coordinating education events with astronauts and other dignitaries for the NASA Explorer School program. From there she was promoted to a position managing outreach for a fleet of aircraft serving as airborne science platforms. The task included multiagency and international coordination in the production of press releases, news articles, and informational and general public events to highlight science projects and discoveries. She also ensured media and VIP guests were vetted and received safety training before escorting them aboard science missions. Beth ended a 25-year career supporting the NASA Ames Research Center’s, Moffett Field in California, public affairs group for the Stratospheric Observative for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) 747-SP infrared airborne observatory.
She volunteers as a SLO County election precinct worker and sews for the Days for Girls organization.
Beth is married to a retired Air Force test pilot with 30 years of service. Thay have three adult children. Beth enjoys traveling and adding countries to her list of those visited. She also edits books, reads and stays in touch with friends around the world.
